My commitment to quality patient care has been the foundation of my 21-year career in the medical field. I joined the practice in 2005 and have nearly a decade of managerial experience. In my role as COO, I coordinate the workflow of the office and oversee the daily operation for all departments. I take pride in ensuring that our patients receive the best quality care.

Sherry Fowler, PHR
Human Recourse Manager

Sherry brings 21 years of human resources and business experience from the private and public sectors. She has held progressively responsible positions in Human Resources management in multiple business industries to include, government contracting, health care quality management, and the medical billing industries.

Prior to joining Cardiovascular Specialists of Frederick, Sherry was the Regional Human Resources Manager with Abeo Management Corporation, and anesthesiology billing and practice management company. The company’s rapid growth also allowed her to lead the human recourses issues in the merger and acquisition process. She possesses a wealth of knowledge in management development, staffing employee relations functions, as well as benefits administration.

Sherry’s experience also includes employee relations management and policy development in union and non-union facilities. She has served as management’s representative in collective-bargaining and grievance resolution.

Heather Placek
Asst. Practice Administrator

As the Assistant Practice Administrator, I have worked for the Cardiovascular Specialists’ team since 2003. My responsibilities consist of multiple tasks that are essential to help make our practice operate efficiently. Some of my roles consist of credentialing and contracting, Quality Assurance, medical billing, website maintenance, and marketing/advertising. I believe that patient care is top priority and the patient’s experience should be pleasant and reassuring during every visit.

Lisa Jacobs
Billing Manager

Lisa has been a Billing Manager for approximately 19 years with a vast range of billing specialties, including hospital surgical billing.

Lisa’s role at Cardiovascular Specialists of Frederick is to provide support and knowledge to the staff to ensure accuracy and timely filing of claims. Lisa’s previous position was with Quality First Urgent Care in a Billing Manager capacity. She helped implement a new EHR system before starting here at CSOF.

In Lisa’s personal time she enjoys spending time with her new grandson and her four legged fur babies. She has 3 pugs named Cami, Bella, and Arya, 2 wild mustangs, Blaze and Baby, and 1 cat, Jax. She also has 2 adult children, Ariel and Colton. Lisa loves to zip-line in her spare time.

Amy Gilbert
Front Office Manager

As the Front Office Manager, I am committed to making our patient experiences at our practice a positive one. I joined Cardiovascular Specialists of Frederick in 2017 and have over 18 years experience of management with an emphasis in customer service and operations. It is important to me that our patients are welcomed into a friendly, positive, and comfortable environment when visiting our office. I believe the visit and experience starts at the front and ends at check out. Our front office staff is cross trained in the front end so they are able to help facilitate the patient’s needs.

Clinical Manager

I am a graduate of Montgomery Community College with an Associate’s Degree. I love cardiovascular nursing and have been with CSOF since 2000. I work directly with patients, whether assisting the physician with their office visit to spending time reviewing instructions. I am a patient advocate.

Robert Rinkinen, RVT, RDCS
Echo/Vascular Manager

I have been employed by CSOF since 1999, as Technical Director of the Echo/Vascular Departments. I am a Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Sonographer, Registered Vascular Technologist and National Registered Paramedic. Prior to CSOF, I was employed by Frederick Memorial Hospital for ten years, receiving awards for service excellence. I enjoy boating in the Cheseapeake Bay and relaxing with my wife and two sons.

Vickie Showers, CNMT, RT (N), RN
Nuclear Manager

A graduate of Harrisburg Community College with an Associate Degree in Nuclear Technology and Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing with a diploma in professional nursing, I have an extensive background in patient care and healthcare management which provided a natural transition to Director of the CSOF Nuclear Cardiology Lab. I have been working for CSOF since 2004 and became director in 2015. I emphasize and facilitate a patient centered approach to the completion of the cardiac diagnostic imaging studies.

I lead a team comprised of me, 3 staff nuclear technologists, and several registered nurses specially trained to monitor and care for patients undergoing cardiac stress testing in the CSOF lab.  I also am responsible for maintaining the CSOF nuclear cardiology lab accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
